Our Foundation Brings Storytelling To Life…

Bringing our program to life…

In November 2016, we created The-Gift-Tree Foundation, a California non-profit foundation, to bring our storytelling program to life.

We launched the foundation with this John F. Kennedy thought very much in mind —

We thought we would make a difference by telling stories that offered gifts in the lives of those we touched. And we would encourage those who liked our stories to share them. This, therefore, would become our first message —

The-Gift-Tree Foundation…

Our foundation was formed in part to help raise the funds we would need to bring our program to life. This is how we see the foundation’s activities

To fund web development and hire experts

We need to fund web development and hire video and audio producers and technical experts. We also need to hire expert digital and traditional marketing experts to assist us in our goal of exposing our stories to as many people as we can.

To select storytellers and stories…

We need to search the world for storytellers who can inspire, intrigue and delight our new global community.

We also need to encourage them to focus intently on simplicity in everything they do. Why? Because we believe that simplicity is the key to brilliance…

Simplicity is the key

Incidentally, like TED, our foundation does not to pay the storytellers we select. Through our marketing efforts, we do provide them with free marketing exposure through our own marketing and we will offer them coaching sessions to help them refine and polish their stories.

To market our stories to a global community…

We would market our stories globally because we see stories as transcending national borders and even cultures. We would seek out those who were curious, positive and optimistic and who wanted to make a difference for the better…

To use as many storytelling platforms as we can...

We would distribute our video, audio and print stories on as many digital and traditional global platforms as were appropriate. We would also include planning live events around the world at which we would invite our storytellers to share our stories.

To use our funds only for our charitable purpose…

We would emphasize that we would only use our funds to further our charitable purpose.

Until our foundation gets funded…

For over a year, our founder, Michael Friedlander, has self-funded and created almost all of the content for the project.

We believe the existing content will give prospective storytellers around the world a good idea of not just the type of content we are seeking, but also the attitude and spirit with which we are approaching the creation of content.

We are now gradually assembling a Management Team and an Advisory Board to shape the direction in we will be moving our project. To date, we’ve already assembled some quite remarkable and diverse group of talent to move our project forward.

We are really quite optimistic about the future and anticipate our program becoming quite iconic quite soon.
