The Gift Tree arose from a passion for delicious homemade food mixed with a love of crafts.
Why The Gift Tree? Trees grow from strength to strength and have the power to symbolise, inspire and express our deepest feelings of love, gratitude, protection and happiness. Gifting makes people feel loved and appreciated. Time is the most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.
The Gift Tree team are Helen & Jean-Guy. Helen worked as a retail manager before switching to hospitality. For those who don’t know Helen, she has been brownie leader for nearly 25 years and is always on the look out for new volunteers. There are so many ways people can volunteer in so many different areas of life, there literally is an opportunity for everyone.
Jean – Guy has created a new menu with something for everybody’s taste at The Gift Tree. Some of you know Jean- Guy, for the ones who don’t let us tell you about his background in a 30 year+ cooking career. He started cooking in the late 80’s doing an apprentice ship at “le Manoir du Lys” a Michelin start restaurant. After graduating, Jean- Guy worked 8 years in France before moving in Edinburgh in 1997. He had the luck to be the private head chef of the French consulate in Edinburgh for years and work as agency chef for many more which gave me the opportunity to work for fantastic venues and restaurants such as Rhubarb in Prestonfield, the highland show, Royal Ascot, Edinburgh castle, the rugby 6 nations and the list goes on……Away now from the busy life of cheffing in hotels and restaurants his focus is on a small production of honest, homemade and tasty food from all other the world. Looking forward to feeding you.
